see how plotLight can help you …
At plotLight's core is the plotLight BRAIN, a complex machine-learning application that combines data-mining with advanced Bayesian logic. Each plotLight project combines plotLight BRAIN components with your project's specific lighting design, meaning that you can focus on creating your design while plotLight focuses on catching mistakes and simplifying your design process. Think of plotLight like a dedicated assistant, diligently working on the small stuff so you can worry about the big stuff.
There are three different types of plotLight BRAIN components:
There are three different types of plotLight BRAIN components:
Show Component. — The Show Component stores information about a specific show or event. This component manages general information about the show, keeps a list of specific show-related requirements (i.e. "Act 1 Scene 1: DSR Special for Piano"), and maintains a global to-do list and overall progress meter. Use this component to track the details of your specific show, and also to ensure you are fulfilling the requirements of the show.
Venue Component — The Venue Component manages information about a specific venue, theater, arena, room, or other type of performing space. From remembering a venue's physical specifications to detailing the electrics capabilities of the space, the Venue component ensures your project fits within the capabilities of your venue while also assisting you in using the venue's capabilities to their fullest.
GearBox Component — The largest of the plotLight BRAIN components, the Gearbox component stores information about the specific equipment available in a collection. For example, one Gearbox component can detail the equipment available at a certain venue, while another component can be used for equipment available from your local rental house. If you decide to create a new Gearbox component, plotLight BRAIN's vast equipment knowledge helps you create your component quickly and easily.
When creating a new project, you can either create new components from scratch, re-use components that you created for another project, or search plotLight BRAIN's database of user-contributed components. After selecting your components – and you can use as many components as your project requires – you focus on creating your actual lighting design.
Whether it's a last minute emergency or just the natural progression of your project, plotLight is there to help when the project changes. All plotLight projects are built by combining your specific lighting design with plotLight BRAIN components — and, at any time during your project's lifespan, you can add, remove, or swap these components. When you swap the components used in a project, plotLight automatically re-examines your project to determine what has changed and how to best use the new components. As a result, plotLight automatically makes suggestions on how best to merge your project with the new components, ensuring that the artistic quality of your design is upheld.
When plotLight BRAIN components are changed, plotLight considers every aspect of your project and examines hundreds of possibilities to suggest the best course for your project. For example, if you swap Gearbox Components and the new component does not have a specific fixture that you were previously using, plotLight attempts to find a fixture that closely matches the original equipment. Or, if you swap Venue Components, plotLight can suggest you change fixture size (degree) if the new venue's electrics are in different positions. During the reconciliation process, you can accept plotLight's new suggestions, make changes yourself, or simply ignore the errors. It's your project — and you're in control.
Everybody knows the hassle of making sure that the right people have the right paperwork, and making sure that everybody stays up-to-date with the latest revisions of the project. However, plotLight significantly simplifies the process of sharing your project, ensuring that everyone stays current without additional work.
Each plotLight BRAIN component, as well as your project itself, remembers contact information for the entire team, making sure that everyone who needs your paperwork gets a copy. There's no need to remember your team-member's contact information, just tell plotLight which team roles should receive a copy of your project and plotLight takes care of the rest. Even better, plotLight provides a variety of options for sharing your project and exporting your paperwork:
- If you need to share your project with another plotLight member, you can instantly share your project with them from within plotLight. You can control their permissions, limiting the changes they can make to the project, and can even assign tasks and watch completion from within plotLight.
- For non-plotLight members, you can email team-members a plotLight LiveLink. A plotLight LiveLink allows your team-members to generate the exact paperwork they need from your project, and LiveLinks automatically update as your project changes.
- Using plotLight Mobile you can access your project from any web-enabled device, including many cell phones. By using a mobile device, you can edit your project and generate paperwork from almost anywhere in the world.
- The complete range of paperwork can be exported in a variety of formats including PDF, or you can just print your paperwork.
- With plotLight FaxOUT service, plotLight can automatically fax your paperwork to any worldwide fax number. In addition, you can call plotLight's US telephone number and request a copy of your paperwork be automatically faxed anywhere in the world.
